The Automation Explorer™ is discovery-stage automation software that
tracks chemical entities through your proprietary research processes.
It addresses the
requirements of
21 CFR Part 11 for acceptable electronic records. For a
more complete description of implementing Part 11-compliance in discovery,
see our white paper on the subject.
Those aspects of laboratory automation that are common to almost every
project are a standard part of the Automation Explorer:
- tracking scientists from multiple companies or intra-company research
groups
- loading descriptions of chemical entities from spreadsheets or other databases
- tracking chemical entities, including both synthesis and purification
products
- display of chemical structures
- tracking multiple storage locations
- tracking the custody of vials and microplates
- managing projects and protocols
- barcode printing and reading
- biometric electronic signatures
Using the basic Automation Explorer as a starting point, Coffey Analysis works with your
scientists to design a system that will automate your processes, using the
instruments and protocols that you select. For example, a proteomics project is very
different than a combinatorial chemistry project, and we believe
that the system design needs to take those differences into account -- a "one
size fits all" approach just won't work.
Key Benefits
- Your people and your processes are the basis for the design.
Our designs always begin with interviews of everyone involved --
scientists, manufacturing personnel, IT staff, documentation staff, and
regulatory staff. Based on these interviews, we produce a
functional specification that describes the process, the information
that will be tracked, and the reports that can be generated. Once
that is approved, we produce a detailed system specification, including
screen shots and sample reports. Only then do we begin coding.
- We work together with your staff as a team.
We work closely with your validation, documentation,
and IT staff.
- At the completion of the project, you have the option of a source
code license. We can provide training for your programming staff
so that you can take on subsequent modifications and extensions of the
project.
